In the ecologically diverse state of Michigan, The Nature Conservancy uses a whole systems approach to address conservation challenges. Our work in the Great Lake state focuses on the following strategic and focal areas:

      • Forests
      • Watershed Connectivity
      • Agriculture
      • Aquatic Invasive Species
      • Native Fisheries
      • Coasts
      • Science

We strive to protect lands and waters by employing innovative land management techniques, eradicating ecosystem threats, working with partners to create more protected natural areas and restoration.

Secondly, we aim to transform the way Michigan’s resources are used and managed through partnerships, knowledge sharing, developing new technologies and creating proactive policy.

Lastly, we are eager to inspire leaders and empower ambassadors for conservation. We provide internships for young people to explore careers in conservation, facilitate volunteer opportunities for passionate individuals, and share our expertise and knowledge throughout the state.

It is our goal to protect and restore the natural systems and places critical to the well-being of nature and people in Michigan and throughout the Great Lakes region.
