Latest On The Conservation Gateway

A well-managed and operational Conservation Gateway is in our future! Marketing, Conservation, and Science have partnered on a plan to rebuild the Gateway into the organization’s enterprise content management system (AEM), with a planned launch of a minimal viable product in early FY26. If you’re interested in learning more about the project, reach out to megan.sheehan@tnc.org for more info!

Datasets for the Conterminous U.S.

Each analysis was done for unique geographies to capture local ecological functions important to each region, were integrated into one product for the Conterminous U.S.  A committee of TNC scientists who worked on the regional projects coordinated input of each of the regional products into this rollup.  Component datasets can be downloaded below.  These datasets are large so please allow time to download.

Resilient and Connected Network
Data description of the RCN.
Resilience Data
Data description of the resilient sites.

Landscape Diversity
estimate of the number of microclimates and climatic gradients available within the local area. It is measured by counting the variety of landforms, and the density, configuration, and connectivity of wetlands
Local Connectedness
barriers to species movement and the degree of fragmentation within the local area. A highly permeable landscape has no or few barriers (low habitat fragmentation) and promotes resilience by allowing plant and animal movements
Terrestrial Resilience
the capacity of a site to maintain biological diversity, productivity and ecological function as the climate changes
Terrestrial and Coastal Resilience
the capacity of a site to maintain biological diversity, productivity and ecological function as the climate changes. This incorporates coastal areas where available marsh migration space is identified to adapt to  sea level rise
Connectivity and Climate Flow
larger network of connected natural areas that allow for dispersal and movement between sites through flow zones or cooridors
Resilient and Connected Network
conservation portfolio that represents all the region’s physical habitats while aligning them into a network of climate-resilient sites, confirmed biodiversity locations, and species movement areas
Recognized Biodiversity Value
areas with confirmed high biodiversity value

Datasets for Clipped U.S. States

These are the national Roll-up data described above.  Same data as above. Each analysis was done for unique geographies to capture local ecological functions important to each region, were integrated into one product for the Conterminous U.S.  A committee of TNC scientists who worked on the regional projects coordinated input of each of the regional products into this rollup.   This download includes the Resilient and Connected Network, Resilience Sites, and Component data for each state.

Datasets for Regional Analysis Projects

Individual datasets that are roll-up to the national datasets. Resilient and Connected  analysis regions undertaken for terrestrial and coastal areas.  These serve as standalone projects and are components of the Conterminous U.S. product described above.  Individual project pages are linked in the table below.
