A well-managed and operational Conservation Gateway is in our future! Marketing, Conservation, and Science have partnered on a plan to rebuild the Gateway into the organization’s enterprise content management system (AEM), with a planned launch of a minimal viable product in early FY26. This tri-fold brochure offers information about how LANDFIRE can be used in many steps of the resource planning process. A detailed map showing where 34 on-the-ground projects are under way or completed comprises the inside of the brochure. (Note: to see and learn about even more projects that we've mapped, go to the WHAM! (Web-Hosted Application Map).

LANDFIRE supports

  • Land and Conservation Planning activities that meet governmental  regulations and certification requirements by providing nationally consistent spatial data sets, ecological models, and other valuable tools.
  • Natural Resource Assessments that use landscape scale vegetation maps and dynamic vegetation models to support effective and efficient management.
  • Wildlife Habitat Analyses of areas that are potentially suitable for species of concern by providing science-based  information regarding cross ownership, seral stage, vegetation height, and cover spatial data sets.
