The Great Plains FLN is committed to two primary outcomes:

·    establishing a shared vision and understanding of fire’s role in each of its landscapes (see map), and

·    building and maintaining the local and regional capacity to implement large-scale cross-boundary fire management, and the use of fire as a common, regular management tool for private landowners as they manage their lands for agricultural purposes, such as grazing and timber management, and recreation.

The Great Plains network helped establish the “neighbors helping neighbors” model of prescribed fire training exchanges, and continues to strive to build and maintain the capacity to accelerate fire management through training exchanges and other actions.
