Latest On The Conservation Gateway

A well-managed and operational Conservation Gateway is in our future! Marketing, Conservation, and Science have partnered on a plan to rebuild the Gateway into the organization’s enterprise content management system (AEM), with a planned launch of a minimal viable product in late 2024. Sagebrush Obligates

Sagebrush sparrows depend on intact sagebrush communities for nesting in Oregon. In the Columbia Basin Ecoregion, these birds are increasingly confined to the Boardman Grasslands, including the Boardman Conservation Area (BCA) where TNC works to monitor their populations.

Wildfires fueld by introduced annual grasses have scorched parts of the Boardman Grasslands many times over the past 10 years. These fires often destroy mature sagebrush, and recur too quickly for sagebrush to regenerate.TNC is working to develop management strategies to reduce wildfire impacts and restore remnant sagebrush communities to ensure nesting habitat for Sagebrush Sparrows persists.

Recent reports on sagebrush sparrows are available on the right Resources panel.
