Identifying Ecological Restoration Needs: Lessons Learned from the Cherokee National Forest Landscape Restoration Initiative
The Cherokee National Forest Landscape Restoration Initiative (CNFRI) was convened in 2009 to develop a comprehensive set of restoration recommendations for the North Zone of the Cherokee NF. In this white paper, Katherine Medlock has compiled lessons learned by the collaborative group over the course of two years of work together. The paper focuses on the “process and concepts that can be transferred to other areas.” Both enabling conditions and best practices in collaborative forest restoration planning are covered in this brief document.
