Foundations of Success shares how, with WWF, they applied the Project and Programme Management Standards (PPMS) to a large, high profile, non-place-based program that seeks to transform the production of basic commodities such as soy, cotton, timber, beef, and whitefish to be more sustainable. While over a billion people are involved in the production, cultivation or extraction of natural resources to support global markets, the companies that control the route to those markets are few. This initative seeks to change the behavior of influential companies at key leverage points along the chain that links commodity producers to the retailers that provide them to consumers. Innovations include applying the Standards to develop a truly strategic plan for the MTI, as well as to establish a monitoring system that is being used to both document progress and to adaptively make decisions as to how to best deploy resources to acheive maximum impact. This monitoring system included developing a database that is now providing critical information to managers. Here you can find more information about this project.
