Welcome to Conservation Gateway

The Gateway is for the conservation practitioner, scientist and decision-maker. Here we share the best and most up-to-date information we use to inform our work at The Nature Conservancy.

Yangtze River, China

The Nature Conservancy

The construction of dams on two-thirds of the world’s rivers has spurred international concern for the future of freshwater. Nowhere is this more apparent than China’s Yangtze River, the world’s busiest inland shipping corridor and the nation’s longest river. In an effort to restore and protect this precious resource, The Nature Conservancy is part of a global community of scientists, engineers and water managers working to promote the sustainable management of the Yangtze for the benefit of China’s people and wildlife.
