Mexico hosts an extraordinarily rich biodiversity of global value. It hosts 10% of the planet’s species. Its varied topography and climatic conditions, combined with a complex geological, biological and cultural history, have all contributed to the development and maintenance of a huge array of habitats and species. Mexico is also blessed with remarkable cultural diversity, with nearly 60 indigenous groups. Given this combination of natural wealth and human will, Mexico is the ideal proving ground for a new growth para-digm, one based on conservation-friendly economic development.
