The U.S. Department of the Interior Office of Policy Analysis has invited LANDFIRE to present a seminar, Foundational All-Lands Data for Improving Decisions in Land Management, on September 10, 2018, in Washington, D.C. The presentation is open to the public via webcast; the recorded event will be posted to the Office of Policy Analysis website as well.

The LANDFIRE panel - Henry Bastian, Program Manager, DOI-OS Office of Wildland Fire; Frank Fay, Program Manager, USDA Forest Service  Fire and Aviation Management; Jim Smith, Project Manager, The Nature Conservancy; and Birgit Peterson, Geographer, USGS Earth Resources Observation and Science Center - will provide context and background, and will demonstrate that, while LANDFIRE delivers wildland fire data, those data are applied to a myriad of "non-fire" land management issues.

The panel will describe the interagency/interdepartmental approach to LANDFIRE's product suite and the innovations that are changing conservation, and will highlight a variety of applications of both spatial and non-spatial data. The presentation will illustrate LANDFIRE's proven success and its potential to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of management decision-making across the United States.

Date: Monday, September 10, 2018
